I might could find this answer by searching a bunch of YouTube videos, but I figured one of you guys could possibly give me a quick answer. I got a great deal on some real hardwood flooring from marketplace. It's 3/4 tongue and grove oak laminated. It's the real wood kind made like plywood with several layers. The finish layer is at least 1/4 inch on this. I bought maybe 900 sf for $300. and it was local. I am going to lay it on a log cabin floor with top notch brand OSB subfloor.

This stuff is tongue and grove on the sides and ends and the pile is cut random lengths. I realize the T&G ends should go together all the way to the last cut at the wall, piecing in random lengths to make the stack look random with no less then 6 inches where ends stack in the rows. I think I got all that down.

The question I have is what happens when my lack of skill causes me to have ends that are not T&G? Can I cut ends at a 45-degree angle, so they won't show a gap in shrinkage and thus butt together non-T&G ends if necessary to complete the job with what I have?

Use those pieces to start your next row, don't butt them up.

cut both sides waste, cut on one side, start the next row from the opposite side.

Cuts are starters for following rows.

If you find yourself with a pile of cuts, and are short on material to cover the floor, you can use a router to cut tongue and groove as needed.

If you have more ends than you need for starters, a router and router table...and some practice... will t&g them to whatever you need.

Biscuit or domino cutter works great and is much, much faster.

Not laminated though correct?

Looks like someone left a fishing rod in the middle of the floor.

As you know, the exception to the rule is you can use pieces that are cut on both ends for between the wall and floor registers.
