Rather cut a deer from stuck in a fence than kill it So you just eat it one part at a time?

I might just ask "what do you like to do?" IF I even decide to engage them in any type of conversation at all. Which often I don’t. I have no obligation to interact with anyone that rubs me the wrong way.

Ask if they are vegetarian or vegan. If yes, tell them that’s only their point of view, but it’s not aligned with human nature as we’ve been Omnivores for millennials. Other than that you cannot reason with them.
If they eat meat or fish but don’t like hunting, I just tell them they’re missing out. I feel it’s more ethical and healthy to harvest your own “free range” protein, than relying on store processed meat and fish. It certainly is more ecological.

Maybe they were never exposed to it growing up. Enjoy the outdoors in other ways. Hiking, camping, kayaking.. etc.

I've found that with age I'd rather not say $chitt, or find something to say that won't extend the conversation, in a polite way. Some responses that crawl under my skin are, "What did that animal ever do to you?" or "Animals are innocent."

My best friend who I met in college doesnt hunt. Didn't grow up hunting. Has zero interest in it.
Far from a tree huggin lib.
Has a bunch of guns he likes shooting. He and his wife shoot pistols and also snowboard all over.

I am not going to argue with them. After I get to know them I may bring it up again to see if 2e can be more civil.

Ask if they are vegetarian or vegan. Apparently you've never met one before, because you don't have to ask.

Whether it’s work or social environment. The rules I play by are different for each. In work, the customer and me generally stay out of specifics enough to get along if we see things from opposite positions. Sometimes that may take a bit of effort on my part. That’s OK, I’m in it for the money. Socially, I can take them where ever I think they feel like they need to go. They can either comprehend and appreciate sound wildlife game management requirements or they can’t. Either way, that’s of no concern to me.

I'd ask them "would you like to try some deer meat or fresh walleye ?", never pass up an opportunity to turn a non-hunter into a fan of hunters.

Someone you meet for the first time tells you they don't like hunting or fishing? I gently ask them how they have done it, and where.
