Hello All, I have been casually watching out for a 50's featherweight in 250-3000. I have seen a couple of beaters in the past year but lots more Winchester calibers and 300 Savage, not so many F's in 250.
I have owned several F models that were 95% condition, one 300 and the rest Winchester calibers, a 358 was special to me. It had a great trigger with a Williams peep, it shot very well for a lever gun, that caliber also made the gun special. My 243 F has curly black walnut on the stock and forearm, I know that is unrealistic to expect in a 250 F.
A clean 250 with a decent trigger that shot decent groups is up there on my wish list. Is this a possible find?
Thanks
Mike

They turn up every now and again. I've owned 2 of them. Won't be cheap if you find one. I'd expect to pay 1000-1500 pending condition.

I paid 975.00 for a very nice one last fall. That is top dollar for most any Savage 99 in Canada. Strangely the 99C in good trim will fetch as much or more most days. As for 99F in .250 occurrences the one I bought was only one of two I have come across in over 10 years.

1950's 99F's in 250-3000 aren't exactly falling off trees. Hard to find, especially nice ones.

Have had a half dozen. Gave one to my pastor. One went to Eaglemountainman. Have two left, one pre and one post mil 99F's in 250-3000. Both mint. Pretty impossible to find in this shape now that ever one is collecting them.

I’ve only seen one 250 f in my life and it was in pawn. Tried to buy it, no deal. I have a couple 250 takedowns so still on the search for a pre mil F. Good luck in your search!

Good god man, why would you need two of those? One would be enough for me. (If I could pry one of those loose from you!)

thanks to everyone for the photos and the wisdom. 250 Savage has become my all time favorite caliber. Patience seems to always prevail when that urge to find a firearm becomes an obsession.

I had a post mil 250 F just like Roy's offered to me not all that long ago for 1500.

I passed.

I thought it was too nice to hunt with.

No regrets...

Never saw any use in dogs or guns that can't hunt.

I'm sure whoever has it now appreciates it. At least I hope so.

I forgot if the 250 A Saddle gun had a gold trigger, and thank goodness it doesn't. I don't like them that much. I would never turn one down for the collection. I had a nice DL in 308 with gold trigger and gave it to my friend for his birthday.
