Ran into this one this morning:
The invasive, destructive pest long-known as the Gypsy Moth has been renamed by the wokies as the Spongy Moth, the new name referring to the spongy egg masses the little bastards lay.
Be sure to endear yourself to all the Gypsies….. er Romani folk in your circle by adopting the new, inoffensive name for Lymantria dispar dispar.
Spongy Rose Lee anyone?
What fresh Hell is this?

Ha, I see the site censorship software hasn’t caught up with the times, still allowing me to post the word “Gypsy”.
Better use it thoroughly before the hammer falls…..

How bad are they likely to be this year? I remember some huge infestations in the early 90's when I was a kid.

Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

Dunno. Probably a regional thing. I kill the ones I see, but don’t see all that many.
The Bug of the Moment here is the Spotted Lantern Fly. Those don’t appear in recognizable form until Fall. They are easy to see, but pretty skittish for a bug. Last year I found they really were attracted to the wild grape vines in my yard, so this year I’ll be ready for them with a jug of Sevin. I squashed a bunch, but a lot plumb evaded me…..

Their main range is the NE, purple and yellow on this map.
