Hello all,
After 45 years I’m revisiting the Contender, only this time the carbine. I have ended up with a few barrels and a few actions. I have realized after a purchase of a barrel last weekend that some have one forearm screw and some have two. Is there a place to buy a forearm adapter fairly reasonably? I think this is what I need? I have two screw forearms and have found myself with a one screw barrel. Please advise to the best fix.

Just go with a one screw pistol forearm. It will be close in price to an adapter.

I think they look good with a short forearm. I used the forward screw as a sling stud.

I reworked the stock a good bit to get the look I wanted.

It’s pretty handy.

I had not considered a pistol forearm on my carbine. Thanks Df. By the way, your .410 carbine looks stout...nice look.

Yeah, it dawned on me to try that; I had the parts.

To me it looks more English with the short forearm and the barrel mounted sling swivel stud.

And it handles just as well as if it had the prescribed long carbine forearm. Main thing the forearm does is to retain the action pin.

This configuration is very sleek and slim. I actually like it better than a full forearm.

Got a synthetic G2 rifle forend and filled hollows and holes w epoxy, then made a new hole for the screw.

Bbl came from a gunsmith's estate so dunno if the screw was in factory location. Just made it fit. No big deal.

Here's an interesting collection of Contenders. The .410 pistol was used by me while a high school rabbit hunter. We'd hunt swamp wabbits on our farm, had a friend with beagles.

The rather sharp edges on the original handle was uncomfortable, so I made my own grip. Lawrence holster is a good one.

Also shown is a Fajen "push-pull" grip. As suggested, you pushed with the forward hand, pulled with the rear one. It was surprisingly steady. I never warmed up to it due to it's weird looks, but it does work.

The scoped barrel is a .22 K-Hornet, previously a Hornet that I recently opened up to the K version.

I've seen those push/pull stocks but have never used one.

Unique design. I think this one was from Fajen, not sure if he was the originator of the concept.

It looks weird but works surprisingly well for a stable hold without a butt stock.

I miss Fajen, liked his catalog and his stuff, well done and a pleasure to work with.
