I too had a Wrist Rocket, but was never deadly accurate with it.

I did better with a Crossman 760 and then a 140. Always wanted a Crossman 99 lever action, but opted to spend my allowance on .22 ammo instead of CO2 cartridges.
I had a wrist rocket and a Crossman 622 Pell Clip .22.I spent many happy hours in the woods with them.

Made my share of coat hanger ones, but usually cut up a pouch from an old piece of leather if available.

Mostly we shot them at each other in my buddy's backyard. Would turn over the redwood patio furniture for barriers and use eugenia berries or some sort of ornamental cherry type things his mom had growing there.

There may have been a bird or three removed from his peach tree.

My first sling shot was made with the old red innertube strips.
Then I move up to a wrist rocket.
Later on, I bought the surgical tube "rubbers" and hooked them on a forked willow branch.

I'm 71, and still have one I made, for keeping the Deer out of my Wife's flowers. (GRIN!)
Mostly use marbles for ammo now.

That might be Roger,

gonna look them up, see if the tree looks similar

Looks close, but not the same. Berries are different, leaves too I think, but I haven't seen that tree in prolly 30 years. Seems chinaberries are toxic to critters and my friend's guinea pig and all the birds around ate them, the guinea pig would get drunk on the fermenting ones.

Yeppers! Pop made me one!
Except we didn't call them "slingshot" back in the 50's! 😉!

Pop showed me how to use it. I immediately shot the back of my left hand with a rock.
About a week later, I picked it back up and figured out how to NOT shoot the back of my hand!

Yup -
Forget the brand but aluminum with good bands. Molded and shot 44 caliber lead balls. Shot lots of pheasants, rabbits, ducks, squirrels and a few geese. Very effective where hunting with firearms was not allowed but hunting was.

Yes, several but the one I still have is a folding Wrist Rocket that rode in my back pocket.
It was easier to sneak around with, concealed carry...

Yep. GrandDad carved me my first one. He called them something else. Not a slingshot. 🤠
