Snicker shock.

Up till about two years ago (I quit them, since), it was my practice to stop in to the Dollar General down the street once a week and pick one up. I made sure to bring a penny with me every time, because after tax it was always one dollar and one penny. Bringing the penny saved me getting 99¢ change from the cashier.

Today I stopped in there, for old times sake, to pick one up. Just out of old habit, I had my dollar and penny in hand, but no good. Now they're $1.51 after tax. That's a 50% increase in price in two years.

I'm pretty sure the price of a 5 gallon jug of hydraulic fluid has doubled in the last few years.

I remember when they cost a dime (Boomer reference)
