Cops hate civilians with guns. Iowa has had open carry literally for years. The problem was other citizens who did not know (or like) the law and were always calling in on someone who was open carrying. This required a police response whether we wanted to do it or not. We were obligated to do a follow up and locate and ID the person. The bottom line is few citizens would open carry to avoid a confrontation just like this. The biggest issue was people who didn't like the law or were ignorant of the law and forced us into an investigation. 99% of the time we simply located the person and watched them for a bit to determine their intentions then did the stop. This happened a lot in the fall during various hunting seasons. On it's best day it was a mess. kwg I did not watch the video because it is a tik toc video. I won't contaminate my computer with that chinese $hit. But, I didn't need to watch it, been there done it. No T-shirt required. kwg It's the job. Didn't you see the line about where I said "[b]99% of the time we simply located the person and watched them for a bit to determine their intentions then did the stop". What if their intentions were criminal and we blew it off ?? I can't think of 32 years as a LEO we ignored a citizens complaint. I don't know what they do in your A/O but we followed up a citizens call. Yes, even stupid ones. kwg

I was pulled over by a Montana state trooper because I was doing 87 in a 65 mph zone. He saw the four or five cased rifles on the back seat and asked if we were hunting, I said no, target shooting. He said he liked my hat so he let me off with a warning. It was a Noveske hat. Strap-on probably would've ended up in jail.
