JamesJr Campfire Ranger Joined: Nov 2015 Posts: 19,266 Likes: 2 The Pennyrile of Kentucky	Hadn't shot my LVSF 243 in a while, so yesterday I loaded up some R-P cases with 49 grains of W760 and a 58 grain VMax, and shot it some. Made me wonder why I ever use anything else to hunt coyotes with.

Shoots under .5” pretty consistent in 1/10 twist 700 and .75” in 1/8 . Same powder under 107 SMK in 1/8 shoots bug hole in the teens . 105A-max , same powder , .5” Didn’t get to far on load development for A-max , ran out of bullets . Not factory barrel . As said 70gr TNT is very accurate too , don’t recall powder right now , been using 222 and 17HMR for groundhogs. Kenneth Last edited by Kenneth66; 09/01/22.

New powders, new bullets come out and are added with results, plus a lot of data is captured in one place. Love the 243 BTW. My last load is 55 gr. Hammer Hunters and 760. Lead free, accurate and scary fast. 4000+ fps. Great for coyote whacking and stackin. Liars should have good memories. H. Babcock

HeavyDove Campfire Member Joined: Mar 2017 Posts: 268 T E X A S	Nice shooting BSA ! I have used that same 100 grain hornady myself on a deer. It worked extremely well. I load for 3 .243's. Two Remington 700's both made in the 1970's. Both of them grouped ok...1 3/4 for the oldest one. 1 1/2 for the "newer" of the two. The third is a Savage Stevens 200 that did way better in the .630's. Powder is IMR 7383 military pull down for .50 Spotter tracer. I suspect the twist rate of the older remingtons has something to do with it. Because when I ran Speer 85 grain BTSP's in all three they all grouped under 3/4 at 100 yds. Love the .243 Best HeavyDove

I don't believe that's the story. Mathman, on the Rem 700, didn't they start with a 1 in 10", then they had a 1 in 9, 1 in 9.125, and then a 1 in 9.250" twist rate? Seems like they were all over the place with them. Then about a year ago, I believe they started using a 1 in 8" TR for the 243 win. When they figured out that was dumb and tightened it to 9 whatever for the 6mm Remington I think they just went ahead and used that for the 243 when they chambered it. Whatever they started with for the 243, I don't think they did what TA 17 said and slowed the twist at a later time.
