I had to make a detour yesterday driving into that storm. There was a very heavy cloud that the bottom was obscured by trees that looked like a funnel. This was between Chelsea and Jackson. I had been watching it as I drove west toward home on country roads. It looked like it was going to cross Territorial Rd (which is what I was driving on) about the same time as me. This caused me to make a turn to the north to attempt to avoid it. The rain was so heavy my truck was hydroplaning at 35 mph and I could barely see. Eventually the storm caught up to me and I had to stop and wait it out because the wipers on high had no effect on the deluge. Thankfully it was just torrential rain and no tornado.

I live on Lk. St. Clair the wind and rain were about the worst I've ever seen....several very large trees were down and there are homes and garages with trees on them...
Luckily power went on and off several times....on my home weather station winds were 68 mph.....

I make a few trips a year from the far west end of the U.P. to Ann Arbor. It never seems to fail that I either get slammed by a snowstorm in the Munising area or torrential rain, thunder, lightning in the Gaylord/Grayling stretch. One year Gaylord was hit by a tornado a few days after I had stayed there for the night.

Damn it must have just missed me.

I'm at Greater Mack and 13 mile area and we didn't get much. Some rain is all.

On the western Michigan (Lake Michigan side) during the humid days of summer, the dark gray squall lines approaching from the west are pretty scary and awesome at the same time. Day turns to night and the temperatures plummet . I’ve been sandblasted a few times on shores of Manistee, Pierport & Frankfort.

2 Mobile home parks destroyed, residential neighborhood &
Business district decimated. .NO fatalities reported as of 0840
Today....PD/FD doing house to house to verify no entrapment
I had my FireTac radio tuned in to calls...Our County FD Dispatcher did an extraordinary job of handling calls & coordinating the 15 County FDs directing them to critical areas.
He deserves a HUGE HELL YEAH....we are fortunate that HE was on duty last evening..

I was about 2 miles North of touch down areas (2 confirmed)
& the wind/ rain was incredible.
Ex-wifes house is smack in the middle of residential neighborhood hit..
House is totaled....she's OK physically.
