What diameter bullets you using? Some older rifles had bores measuring up to .382".

Mark Douglas, on the YouTube's channel, from the "Cinnabar" Ranch, has a very good video edition on this, and he talks about the end of the barrel muzzle,(CROWN), being off due to Bubba shortening the barrel, with a slight angled cut, and disrupting the flight of the bullet as it leaves the muzzle. Just so happens to be a 38-55 cal also. Even if it's not the issue in you're case, it's a very good video. Just a thought.

Good Luck with it,

Been thinking about this while Turkey hunting on stand and I was wondering what ammo your using as Quality ammo is important also.

Going back to the Crown on your rifle, I would seriously investigate that.

Please report back and let us know what you find.

I had an 1895 manufactured 94 in 38-55 once that would tumble 375 diameter jacketed bullets. Looking at the crown it appeared it had been cleaned enough that it ovaled it out a bit. The bore was fantastic. I decided to try to 377 diameter barnes original and it cured that issue. Shot really well with the barnes. As was stated, if it is any early rifle, the bores were larger.

PSH,
I'm thinking that's valuable information right there. Sure would be worth a try for me!

Hoping it helps. My targets with the 375 bullets was a perfect sideways bullet, lol. 377 took care of it.

I haves the same rifle, I shoot .381 dia bullets, powder coated that brings them up to probably .3815. Bore is little dark and rough Dyna Bore coating helped that a lot. I have a good supply of he bullets. I can send you some if interested Angus1895
