For any one who is a Costco member and looking for some new PS Costco has a great deal for the next few weeks. Just about impossible to beat the cost and flexability of Elements getting started. Add a good instructional book by Martin Evening or Scott Kelby and you'll invest less than $100 total. http://www.costco.com/Browse/Produc...CEmail_360-_-FOCUS-_-53-_-AdobePhotoshop

Sam's also had the Photoshop elements 7 for $79.98, I picked a copy up there. I also picked up a photography book by Kelby but didn't see one at Borders by Evening. What was the title of the one you recommended by the author Martin Evening? Thanks...............................DJ

I thought I had read that Martin Evening has a PSE book coming out but it hasn't been released AFAIK so I can't help with the title. He does have a web site so you can watch there. Theese two authors are a very good place to start with photo software guides. I do prefer Martin Evenings approach as I just find it easier to follow but both have some great books out.

Does PSE7 have a magic wand to move over certain areas (to lighten areas under a person's cap, for example) and a tool to clone out objects like telephone poles from a photo? I saw on one video clip there is a brush to adjust certain areas, but was thinking about a wand to have softer edges to the adjustment.

You can indeed clone with PSE. If you pick up one of the books with PSE I'm sure for the $$ you will be very pleased with what you can do. However some of the tools can be tempermental depending on your OS, RAM and patience. I'm using PSE6 updated so I expect PSE 7 to be essentially the same with new camera updates. You can feather with PSE as well.

Thanks for the reply. The Adobe site is not very informative about the features of PSE7 (at least what I saw on it).

There's a ton of tools in PSE. It can do an incredible amount and there is no shortage of how to books and tips for this software.
