The official drink of the Kentucky Derby. Any excuse to drink Bourbon has to be good!  Here's what I do; Mix 1 Cup of Sugar and 1 Cup of water in a sauce pot. Gently boil for five minutes and remove from heat. Add several sprigs of mint to the hot simple syrup, cover and allow to cool. Strain then serve 1.5 ounces of syrup with 2 ounces of Blanton's Bourbon over crushed ice and garnish with a mint sprig. Try to stay awake for the race.

please....don't use Blanton's...use Makers or Dickel....Blanton's is too good to use anything but water (if that). And don't forget the monogramed silver cup.

What do I do if I only drink GLENFIDISH.? Cut back a bit so you aren't too sloshed to spell Glenfiddich?

I think what I actually have in the cabinet for today is a bottle of Eagle rare from Buffalo Trace. My brother and Dad visited the Buffalo Trace distillery and my brother brought one bottle of that down to deer camp. If you make a julep out of it all three of us shall visit you and take it away for alcohol abuse!

I'm probably about 5 hours North of Indy. I'll throw some pork shoulders on the BGE and break out the Eagle Rare!
