Are the inside fine lines the same thickness? I'm looking at the VX-II 2-7x33 in particular. Also considering resetting the parallax free fer 100 since the vast majority of my hunting shots have been inside a football field. Any thoughts or concerns about that?

I'd say not, based on a few FX-III 6x42s I have had in the past, IIRC- the HD has 1" lines, the #4 = .7, and the Wide Duplex has .5", hope that helps.

FWIW, the #4 and #1 would be at the top of my list for your use. Parallax will not be an issue on a rifle used for large game, your focus (not parallax) can still be good under 100 yds, and the factory should be set at 150 IIRC.

Thats very interesting. Do you know how wide the crosshairs are on the standard duplex? I assume the LR duplex is the same as the wide duplex.

Is it safe to assume those figgers are the lines' coverage at 100 yards?

Pg. 100 '09 catalog gives the subtensions of the std. Duplex only. thin subtension is 0.3 inch per hundred yds. (IPHY), thick is 1.1, and 8.1 IPHY between post tips...all @ 7x.

pg. 95 for LR Duplex gives 0.41 MOA fine line subtension, 1.26 thick, and windage between post tips is 19.77 MOA...again @ 7x.

Gotta get the catalogs. The info they contain is priceless.

My catalog was an '06, the #4 is custom shop only now, and perhaps the HD. The Std. duplex would be nice as in the recent past, only Gloss 6x42s had std. D, whereas the matte models had Wide D. Go figure, same applies OR did to the 6x36 and I believe the 4x33s.

Specs can/do change.....

Landcruiser, that was on the 6x42 just as a reference, sorry I did not look at the 2-7 and cannot access it now.

The thin part of the #4 and heavy duplex are about the same and are thicker than the standard duplex.
