Captain,

I frequently fish the Baja and Long Range out of San Diego and am preparing for a trip to Baja at this time.

I've been reading of some Captains in Cabo trolling at speed of 18 MPH with a heavy head lure. They claim to be catching large mahi, YFT, billfish and of course, wahoo. This seems like too good to be true as I would like to think I'm being productive on the run to the fishing grounds. Any experience with high speed trolling in your area?

I too have trolled at 18 knotts while in a hurry to get to my most productive fishing grounds. Yes, I've caught fish. More times than not, I'll see fish in hot pursuit of a lure and slow down to get the bite. I look at it this way though. while the chances are slim, it's best to put the lures out when running than not have any chance at all.
