What would you choose Mcm hunter ,classic or a High tech specialties. This would go on a vanguard 223 that I use as an all around varmint and range gun.
Thanks

I love my McMillans and if the price difference is of no concern or if you aren't going to do the work on the HTS yourself, I would go that route.
That said, I think the Bansners/HTS are great stocks if you like to do the work yourself. I've worked on a few, and have a couple currently in my garage being completed. I was able to get two Sheep Hunter stocks and pads for nearly the exact same amount 1 McMillan would have cost.
I like the McMillans, but not twice as much as the Bansners.

I have a Sako Classic on my Howa 7 WSM, and see no reason to change it. I haven't tried any of the others, though.
This is a shooting forum, there is no place here for logic.

Problem from my POV w/ HTS in this application is that they don't offer a Weatherby-style monte carlo.

Thats the reason I want to change the factory stock,I find the bottom of the stock to wide and flat.
Are the HTS stock hard to finish?I plan to do the work myself except the bedding.

And what kind of paint would you recommend? I would like something like Mcmillan used on their edge stock.

If you are going with the Mcmillan.....go gel coat. Even the best paint will look like schit after a few years of hard hunting.

McMillan uses Polane, which more commonly known as Duracoat.

Thanks Here is a Vanguard, .270 WSM, with a PacNor barrel and a McMillan Edge Sako Hunter stock. It has been bedded and of course free floated. I really like the slim forend of the Sako Hunter. I also have a Bansner Hi Tech stock, on a .280 Rem., painted by our own Rick Bin. The only thing I don't especially care for on this stock is the forend- a little bit too fat for my taste.
I'd rather be a free man in my grave, than living as a puppet or a slave....

I have the Sako Classic on mine as well in an Edge. Like it a lot. And no the scope doesn't hit, nowhere near it - just a funky angle on the pic but usually someone will ask.
