I do have one on a 50 cal which I use during modern season in firearm restricted areas.

Idaho allows scopes ,always have .
you just have to provide the needed medical to get a waver .
Currently now the rules allow none magnifying I believe , for anyone wishing to .

The first year I have to use a scope. It's use a scope, or quit hunting, and that's not going to happen.

Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a hunting license and that's pretty close.

If it's a declared muzzle loader season here in Oregon, it's irons only.

You're right of course, capt. I should have said "not generally allowed". Thanks for the clarification.

I've put a scope on the inline long enough to develop the load then it's off again.

Two piece bullets are swagged together after casting. Generally the nose section is hard alloy and the base is soft or perhaps pure lead. Sometimes the nose section is a bore rider like this one below. Don't recall the precise specs on this one but think it .500" on the nose and .510 on the base. 800 grains by the way. This is done to control upset during obturation.

Pictures of the gun follow.

False muzzle, barrel is about 2-1/2" in diameter by Moslander.

Can't tell you much about that other than it was used to throw charges on the line. Most folks shooting those guns are anal enough to weigh charges, but he was not so inclined. Generally speaking I agree insofar as slug rifles of that caliber at 200 yards probably don't exhibit significant vertical dispersion due to small velocity variations.

The image is a little confused by the tool behind it, that being the bullet starter.

I can tell from the profile It is a Belding & Mull.
A lot of people will argue that they are the most accurate powder drops ever made.

No scope on my T/C .54 caliber Renegade rifle. I still prefer black powder and PRBs too. Self imposed equipment limitations can make the hunt more challenging and therefore more interesting. It isn't just about killing a deer.

Using a scope doesn't mean you take long shots. Most of mine are in bow range.

My Renegade LRH has a globe front and vernier rear. My Greyhawk has factory irons.

The NULA that is coming will wear a Trijicon 1.25-4x24mm.
