I had been saving all my win. 300 WSM brass and had about thirty once fired pieces of factory brass. Went to start loading some up with WLRM primers . I noticed they seem to be going in too easy with the press. So I looked at them and was able to push the primers in with my finger!! I measured the pockets and compared them with some 30-06 brass I had, and they measured the same. I had some federal 215 and tried those, and they seem to seat like they should . I did end up throwing two pieces of brass away, still a little loose of a fit for me. Anyone ever had this happen before ? I would assume all LG. Rifle primers were the same OD.

Factory WSM is loaded up right to the hilt.
Winchester primers tend to be on the small size, CCI on the big end, and Federal right in the middle. Having to match primers with brass is common.

I had the same problem with WLR primers in my 7mm-08. I think probably that Winchester made a run of primers that were too small in diameter. Switched to F210's and problem solved.i

I have a box of 1000 Winchester Large Rifle Primers that fit loose in new 308 Brass.

The unplated WLR & WLRM primers I have are undersize.
It seems they did not account for the thickness plating adds.

I was loading some 25-06AI test loads. WLR primers wouldn't stay in, CCIs worked fine.

You guys are most likely just seeing the result of tolerance stack. I don't think so! I think it's WW primers that are undersize to the required blueprint dimension because WW forgot to allow for the thickness plating allows.

Federal Match GM210M measure 0.2105".

In an arena (handloading) where precision is the sought-after goal of the participants, we certainly seem to see a somewhat lackadaisical attitude to same on the part of the suppliers of components.
