I have a S&B Klassic 2-10x56 and going to mount it on a 300 wby accumark.
Top priorities in this order:
No scope slippage Minimum scope marring objective as close to barrel as possible
What do the experts recommend?

A good picatinney rail (Badger, Seekins, Near, etc, etc...) in 0 MOA configuration with Seekins 30MM rings in medium (0.87") height.
Torque to manufacturers specifications and rock on!!!

Don't worry about all the naysayers, line the rings with 3M electrical tape and the ring marks will disappear
I was thinking the other day how much I used to hate Bill Clinton. He was freaking George Washington compared to what they are now.

I like the one piece rails better....gives you a little more scope mounting "room" & adjustability for proper eye relief.
One thing...go with a 0 MOA rail with Schmidt & Bender hunting scopes....they are very limited in elevation travel. With a 20 MOA rail, you probably won't have enough travel to get a 100yd or 200yd zero...if you do, it'll be at the end of the scope's travel limits.
With their PMII line of scopes, its not an issue.

Oldelkhunter: I did some homework for you......for your Weatherby rifle, Near Mfg or Murphy's Precision would be your best bet for a picatinney rail. They both make great products & will fit your rifle perfectly!! www.scopebases.comwww.murphyprecision.com

Call Mark Cromwell at New England Custom Guns. They are the North American importers for S&B scopes (or were last time I knew),and have more S&B "experience" than just about anyone.
They also mount them on their custom rifles. If I had a question or issue mounting an S&B they'd be the first shop I'd call for advice.

Not an expert, but I've been there done that with several Schmidt & Bender hunting scopes!!!
The issue is the amount (lack of) elevation travel they have, its not much at all compared to other brands. Whatever type of mount you go with, use a flat (0 MOA) set-up....Mark Cromwell will tell you this same thing!!
Other than that..... its the same as mounting any other scope....eazzy peezzy!!

Nothing I have seen with the exception of the mounts supplied by Echols or David Miller can match the Near Alphamount IMHO
