Finally got the bucket list gun of the Browning Safari Grade .300 H&H Magnum. It is kinda large for our puny Florida deer but that and pigs will be the main quarry for a while. Any suggestions on loads for deer? If there is a universal load suitable for deer to moose I am not apposed to simplifying things for future hunts. I have some 180 gr Hornady 180 gr Interbond factory ammo coming in the mean time.

I am looking at 165-168 grain bullets at a slightly reduced speed. If I were looking at bigger game then deer , i jack up the velocity and use a 180 grain TSX or Partition .

165 grain Nosler BT with enough H or IMR 4350 to drive it to around 3000fps. Super accurate and Martian Death Ray lethal on deer.

Not an H&H but a .300 magnum. I use 180gr Core-Lokts and Interlocks at 2835fps using IMR4350.

If it were me I'd pick up some 130 TTSX's, run them at the speed of heat then go shoot any deer or pig in the state.
If and when I decided to go shoot moose I'd worry about working up a new load then.

I agree with trying out some 4350 and a decent 165-180. Chances are it'll be accurate and be an awesome deer and hog killer.

I always load for elk with my 300H&H but I have used it on deer and antelope too when I got the chance. I use 200 Gr Nosler Partitions and a load of H4831. The partitions expand of the chest of an antelope, but don't blow up on the shoulder of a bull elk.
My rifle shoots 69.3 Gr with a Fed 215 primer into 3/4" to 7/8" at 100. It does all I could ask of it. My friend Don has an old Remington 721 in the 300H&H and his gun shoots well too, but used a bit more powder. I think he said it was about 71, but i am not sure.
Never load to what someone tells you for powder weight. Always work it up yourself in your own rifle.

180 gr Nosler Partition. This is the right answer. No need to look further.

I have a 165gr GMX load that shoots great. That is probably what I would use, since it is done.
Starting from scratch, strictly for deer/antelope. A nice moderate load with a 165gr Hornady IL/IB, or Nosler BT/AB would be my pick.

my load is 71g of RL22 and 180 TTSX's. It has worked great on elk, so I suspect it would kill a deer too..

pacecars, I am trying to keep it simple with a Win Mag, so my rifle only sees 180 gr Partition. They are consistently accurate out of this rifle, and I cannot imagine anything I could not pursue with this package. That said, were I starting over, I would also trial the 200 gr Partition and the 165 gr ETip or TTSX. The most accurate would get the job.

I say simplify, I shoot 200 and 220 gr Partitions for all game in my M-70 300 H&H's, enough H-4831 to run the 200's to near 2900 fps and the 220's at an easy 2750 in the M-70's 26" barrels.
Hunting with the 220 NPT's through a Lyman receiver peep is perfect for all CONUS game and a whole hell of a lot of fun.
I use W-W brass and Fed-215 primers.

Pushing light for caliber bullets at high speeds for deer seems like a recipe for bullet blow ups and lots of blood shot meat. I've seen it with 7 Mags, 300 WM, etc... and it isn't pretty. Shooting a 300 Mag of any flavor, I would slow it down a bit and use a bullet that won't over expand at those speeds. In my experience, this starts at the 180 grain bullets with some type of controlled expansion. This would not include Ballistic tips and would be iffy on Partitions. If price wasn't a concern, I would go with Swift Aframes- most predictable expansion I've ever seen with any bullet I've ever used. Heaven knows you will still have more than enough power to kill any deer on earth and elk, bear, moose, or rockchuck ever born.....

For deer and hogs I would load lighter bullets. Means flatter shooting and less recoil. 130 to 150 TSX would be lethal for almost anything you will ever face.
