Just out of Simple Curiosity I wonder How Many here OWN the 8 RM now? I know it's history from introduction. The FIRST Shooting Times mag I bought had JRS' article Introducing Remington's Big 8. A hunting/shooting pard bought 1 brand new and he had an eye problem - when he bought it. I wound up shooting it MORE than he did in load development and grouping. A few years later I bought it from him. I really have done 85 % or more of the shooting done with the rifle. I have hunted it and killed deer with it JUST because I have it. ? I don't think it's needed for WT ? ATST it's fully capable of taking any game in North America. Craig Boddington is a good reference. How many of you guys are out there ? Jerry

I have owned 4 in the past. RL25 was the powder of choice. H4831 was a close second.

One can always load .284" or .308" projectiles backwards,to "reap" 8mm "performance". Congratulations?!?

I owned one, killed a couple jackrabbits with it,then sold it. Well,....... I would not expect anything less ! ! I have considered having mine REbarreled to 416 R M or 375 H H. The 375 is probably the best option for me. I know I can shoot one. Thnx Jerry

So I stocked up and have several #s. With the 200 gr bullets it gets 3100 fps w/o any problems. That combo equals the trajectory of the 270 W using similar BC bullets. I have a few #s of Rl 26, I might try a little of that. Thnx Jerry

Rabbits down here in NM are tough critters. Keep it in 8 mag and take it west to kill a big bull elk with it.

Got a Remington 700 Classic in the back of the safe...killed an elk with it. Don't want to sell it, but don't use it anymore.

I tossed around getting one for a moose hunt, but never did. Now I have a 7RM that I'm even wondering why I own.
Not the recoil with either, just too big a framed gun for what I like.

That was my original goal. I had a serious trip planned w/ 2 pards but it fell apart. I enter the Elk permit drawing here every yr. since 1999.......no luck. It's time now to enter for this year. Jerry

I believe I have only encountered one 8RM over the years Yeah, I've only seen 1 or 2 at gun shows. I don't know anyone personally who has or ever had one. A guy my Son works with said, "they never made a 8 mm Mag". I gave my Son a new piece of Brass to show him. He was stunned. Jerry
