...in the street?
Dad drove a delivery route for 30 years. Me, as a young 6 year old rat, I’d ask pop every night when he got home from work “What did you find in the street”?
I was always hoping he’d find a pocket knife. IIRC, dad found a few knives over the years. Sometimes cash. The strangest thing dad brought home was a dead mink.
Dad saw this mink get hit by a car. He pulled his delivery truck over and snapped up the road kill. My brother had the little fella stuffed. That mount was around our family homes for many years.
What’s the coolest thing you found?

Found a Yeti cooler with a 21 cans of coors light. Cooler had a lot of road rash but I kept it because it was still functional.

I found a chainsaw in its case on a Highway. There was a phone number on it so I called and dropped it off at the guys house. He ended up being a youth minister so I’m pretty glad I made that call and did the right thing, I can’t imagine what kinda bad karma I would have gotten if I didn’t!

I found a 2 1/2 x 4” Rigid die in the middle of the road at four corners in Tomball. The driver of the truck hit the gas hard, die hit tailgate, knocked it down, die rolled out. I stopped, put it in my truck. That die cost 1000.00 back then. I sold it to the plumbing company I was working for for 400.00. It wAs a fire sprinkler company truck, driver saw it come out, hauled ass. Lucky day for me!

I was cruising around the Cascade mountains in Oregon pretending to elk hunt and on the side of the gravel mountain road was a 6 pack of some fancy beer.... Hunting was over for the day....

I found a leather pouch, one of those with a zipper and a lock lying up against the curb on Magnificent Avenue in Ames. The pouch had a company name embossed on it. I looked up the company in the phone book (this was long ago) and took the pouch to the company. The lady at the desk was overjoyed to have it returned. I said that it didn't feel like it contained money. She said that it would take its being filled with some awfully big bills to equal the value of the electronic parts it contained.

I found a Winchester model 62 laying in the middle of the road in 2016. I just saw a local farmer going up the road about 20 min. earlier and thought it may have fallen out of his tractor. I picked up the rifle & spotted him up ahead to flag him down. It was his rifle & pretty skinned up too.

I found some kind of black plastic Glock pistol in the bank parking lot, chased the guy down, asked if he lost something...he did...never even offered to buy me a cup of coffee. No more good deeds, to hell with it.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.
