We really like fishing from the boat and the kayaks, But to me there's few things more relaxing than just kicking back on the bank and waiting for a big blue to take your bait.

I don't particularly enjoy it, but I do hit pond banks sometimes so little man can get into some bluegills.
Catching through the ice is my first love, the boat is second, and bank fishing is way down a few tiers from that.

Oh yeah I’ve got a rod/reel in my trunk all the time and hit the little lakes, rivers, and suburban retention ponds around me. After dinner Sunday my son in law asked if we could wet a line. Fun surprise in a tiny little retention pond behind a strip mall here!

It's the only type of fishing I do. I am anxiously awaiting the bluegill to start heating up around here.

Brokenarrow, years ago I would cross into OKlahoma and be able to make my way to the red river \ Lake Texoma. The banks were nice and sandy and I always wanted to go back. Can you recommend a good places to do exactly what you are doing in your photo?
EFW- nice one buddy. You get after more than anyone I ever met.

Yep, still do it. Ponds plus below Truman dam for the first 1/4-1/2 mile is bank fishing only.
A few spots on Truman Lake I can drive to a gravel banked cove and catch spawning crappie.
Good sized creek near home that has good catfishing but very few people fish it.
The last time that bear ate a lawyer he had the runs for 33 days!

Sometimes. Maybe even the same lakes you fish. We fish the river exclusively from the bank. And farm ponds too. Sometimes simple is best

I don't know why, but I like to be about rib cage deep wading a river with a fly rod. Maybe a pontoon boat on deeper still water. Probably has something to do with needing room for a back cast.

Reminds me of many great days with my son when he was a similar age, and some more recently! Couple of nice panfish there (crappie?).

Sure do enjoy it. In northern Canada a vertical rock face shoreline maybe 4-6’ high will generally have 10+ depth at its base or more. Sit there and pound walleyes. Hard to convince clients to do it unless I have a spot like that picked out for shore lunch and they can sit and haul walleyes in while I get lunch ready. People want to boat away when a days worth of fun is at their feet.

Can you recommend a good places to do exactly what you are doing in your photo? I was at Ft. Cobb in that picture, it's a great catfish lake but people jug it to death. There are lots of good public lakes down this way, Waurika and Ellsworth are really good for Blues as well, and they're all loaded with crappie. All the private ponds that I grew up fishing are either locked up or dried up.
