Anyone fished with these? At 9/16ths and 3&1/2" they're bigger than the standard Pop R. I've been bank fishing an area recently where longer casts are required and these should have the weight to make a difference. I'm hoping the size difference won't effect the action of the original.

Haven't actually fished with it yet but took one to a flooded area. Because of the weight difference it easily casts further than the original. To my eye the popping action seemed similar if not identical to the original. What seemed different to me was if you gave it a slow steady retrieve twitching the rod tip down it had a side to side action that looked kind of like the Heddon Spook. I wouldn't be surprised if you could catch something using it with that kind of retrieve.

Some poppers can "walk the dog" like a Spook. The Chug Bug is pretty good at that. I have caught a lot of bass fishing the Magnum Pop R. It is a target bait, throwing to specific targets like stumps, lay-down logs, isolated pads, or grass lines. Particularly good in the spawn because you can leave it hanging right over a bed give it a blurp and let it sit. Make some ripples and leave it right over their head. Often that bait suspended right over their head in shallow water won't be tolerated by a bedding bass.

Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.
