I had a 75 FJ40 Land Cruiser that had 410,000 on it when I finally sold it.

I do love Toyotas, especially the older ones. The new ones with all the sensors and computers on them I stay away from.

I like Toyota. I have an 05’ with 293,000 miles that I’ll be selling soon. The powertrain is still great and I’ve never been nickeled and dimed with minor repairs, for the most part just basic maintenance. This one has 70,000 and still drives likes brand new. I like it a lot better than my wife’s Chevy but in fairness the Traverse has been a pretty good running low maintenance car too. [Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]windows screen capture

I always knew Toyota made a great truck, but they were just too small for my needs. Until my youngest graduated from High School in 2007 and there were no kids in the house. I bought my Tacoma new that summer. They tried to sell me the new Tundra, but I wanted something smaller. I'm at 246,000 basically trouble-free miles. It is no longer my primary daily driver, but she isn't for sale. No doubt the best truck I've ever had.

She has been on several cross country road trips from GA to Western States. We were in your neck of the woods in 2016. We drove to the Grand Canyon then north into SW Utah. Saw Zion and Bryce Canyons but I enjoyed Kodachrome State Park as well or better than anything. We drove several miles into BLM land to hike some slot canyons. Spent one night in a motel in Panguitch Utah.

I would have bought a Tundra last year if one was available as a one ton long-bed dually with turbo-charged diesel engine. Had to settle for the GMC Sierra instead.

Nice try pard

Less than $10K as it sits

Can't buy a SxS for $10K with A/C & heater & full time 4x4 for that

Andy your Toyota is going to be 100 times more dependable than a side by side.

Has anyone priced a loaded-outbPolaris Ranger SxS lately……well north of $40K! Jussay’n! 😉 memtb

Toyota makes great running and durable vehicle's. Not everyone can get by with small trucks. The Tundra is a nice half ton pickup. But lacks the towing and hauling capacity needed by many. Ten years ago the Toyota dealer told me, wait a year or two and Toyota will have a full sized, diesel pickup. Many other vehicles run as long and with little maintenance. I tow a couple large trailers and the Tundra isn't up to the task. Tried and proven while having a friend, tow my camp trailer with his Tundra V8. My old diesel walks off and leaves it pulling more weight, especially over the Cascade passes! Drive what you need, but don't think everyone has Toyota needs, many needs exceed Toyota's capabilities! YMMV

Geez.
My 01 has 263000+ on it as of yesterday. And it too is the 2.7L 5 speed model.

I'll probably put it in my will for relatives to fight over, or not as I won't care then.

How right you are.

I'm not in the need of a bigger truck, and my boat is only 10' long and weighs about 100 lbs.

We're I richer, I'd for dang sure have a bigger boat and something to tow it!

Can't understand why Toyota doesn't build a bigger truck, especially a diesel, other than the competition is pretty stiff and the regulation even stiffer. Hell, I just wish they'd bring in the diesels they already have in the smaller trucks.

And for sure those Cascade passes are something especially when pulling a big trailer.

Check out the percent US/CA content in some vehicles.

When you scroll down and look at the chart, realize some US companies are ranked higher with a lower % of US/CA components because they were given a bonus for R&D and such.

https://kogod.american.edu/autoindex/2022

Example, look down at the list of #17 vehicles. GMC Yukon ranked the same as the Toyota Avalon. Avalon is 60% US/CA parts, while the Yukon is only 42%.

Which vehicle is helping American manufacturing more???

Kinda complicated, eh?

Not mention that "the guys who brought us Pearl Harbor" are all dead and gone for the most part. Just as our WWII leaders are.

My father served in the Navy during WWII. He bought a Honda and several Toyota/Lexus vehicles. I guess he figured Tojo and the boys had been dealt with well enough

Agree 100%, Toyota trucks lack the power to tow, they are great otherwise.
