Like Stonewall Jackson, from what is now Clarksburg WVa.. just how many slaves did he own in Clarksburg for example?
People against changing the names back to what they were, are probably out of state Transplants which the entire state has WAAAY too damn many of.

Hmmmmm- - - - -sounds like somebody reminded the school board members that Virginia still has tall trees and short ropes. Nothing terrifies any politician worse than the idea that he/she might not get reelected to another term.

If you want any information about how much Virginia blood and background I have relating to Virginia.? I am descended from the first boat of people that landed there in 1607. Roughly a 100 people left England for what became Jamestowne. Within the first 2 years 80% of those people died of disease or from Indians. The 20% that survived, I'm descended from those people. 17 generations ago, 417 years ago. I'm descended from this guy: Ambrose Meadows https://ancestors.familysearch.org/en/GGMT-CQ6/ambrose-meador-meadows-1583-1663.First 20 years of Jamestowne, there was 6000 people that arrived at the James River Colony, or general area. Of 6000 arrivals, the population was 1200 people ( source verified on Wiki) in 1627. Once again 80% of the arrivals perished by disease or by Indians. My forbearers were still part of those people. Courtesy of the Mormon Church, I am also a descendant of Myles Standish of the Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts from 1620. They were looking for Jamestowne but they ran out of food and water ( beer), so they landed at Plymouth Rock and said Screw it! We're here. Myles Standish had married into the Meadows clan ( Puritans) before they ever came to America. My family married into the Lee family 5 generations before Robert E Lee was born. ( source, Mormon Church records). They also married into the Washington family muliple generations before George was born. Gotta long family history out of Virginia, but I won't bore you any more. I am related to 4 Senators who were alive within my life time ( I was born in Bluefield WVa in June 1952 ) Robert Byrd was my grandmother's first cousin. I am related to Al Gore Sr and Al Gore Jr from Tennessee. I am related to Mark Meadows. he is a carbon copy of my grandfather ( 1907 to 1968). I am related to a whole bunch of Congressmen and Senators from Virginia, from way back between before the Revolutionary War to the Civil War. So yeah, I'm an out of state transplant here in Oregon, as I haven't headed home. yet. The day will come
