RWE, I would caution you that insulting members wives and/or children is not welcome conduct. Consider yourself advised that further comments like this will result in a complaint to the site moderator.
I won't even comment on killing those groupers...... Point out specifically where I insulted a wife/children. My previous reference was in regards to "Lee and the catfish". Another long standing joke. Chivalry is not dead.

Of course down here we call them Dorado and that's a nice bull dorado right there. When I worked in Hawaii I still had a hard time calling them Mahi Mahi, just a cultural thing. Dorado means 'fried' as in cooking anyway, just staying with the theme of irrelevant blather started here by the OPer.

They call them dolphin (dauphin) around here also, but it doesn't sound near as machismo.
OLDMAN1942, please let me know how I insulted a member's wife/child. If I owe someone an apology, I need to get on it.
Otherwise I suspect this was a little narcissistic paranoia.

I won't even comment on killing those groupers...... Those groupers fed that village of 50 people, they were requested and we supplied and you may have a grouper issue in FL, we could catch those all day long and quit targeting them after the first two though the big one we're holding up was caught because it hammered a red snapper that took a jig, took two anchors to get it back down to decompress and break the mono line we tied it to the anchors with. We toss all fish back that can make it, keep the others for the village and a few for us. Talking out your A again. Here's what happens to snappers and such when a grouper comes and hammers it while trying to real it in, seldom does the grouper hook themselves on the jig but it happens. I don't apologize for hunting and killing or fishing and killing neither. Kent

I won't even comment on killing those groupers...... I don't see where he insulted anyone. And what the heck is wrong with keeping a legal fish to eat?

Dolphin, ya I remember going out of San Diego my first time and they said we were going to be catching dolphin. I thought, heck no, I'm not going to catch flipper, that wasn't right, they're friendly.

I never understood why they called them dolphin either.
Perhaps OLDMAN will explain it when he returns to tell me how I insulted a forum members wife/child.
I hope he does so soon, as I don't want to continue taking this train ride off the track.

His last post was a classic avoidance/redirect changing the issue with blame and shock strategy, curiously reminisent of L24 complete with perfect rythem.
He's googling groupers right now. How come he can't keep up with the rythem of posting like the rest of us. It's a pain waiting for someone to finish googling their answer. He's slowing the game down.

I believe so, at least a construct from the same guy.
Maybe some here are getting a little close.

Dorado means 'fried' as in cooking anyway, just staying with the theme of irrelevant blather started here by the OPer. In keeping with that theme, I'm pretty sure it means "golden" in Spanish.

I guess it's just lingo. I was in cabo and we brought some yellowtail back to the hotel. We decided to cook it up with some of the hotel crew that got off at 5:00 and make a big meal for everyone. talking about different ways to cook it they kept saying dorado and I thought they were talking about the yellowtail until they said it meant, fried. They don't really like their tacos dorado style either, the way I like to make them, they like soft tacos. Of course there's nothing wrong with yellowtail on the barby. Kent

Nice bull dolphin, oldman1942. Makes me want to go back to the Dominican Republic and fly fish for those things. Even as cold as it is, I would go fishing right now, and have the lakes to myself.
