Here's all I have to share. I left her out on the deer pole at camp for "seed" hoping it will help bring us more. Congrats Dave!Fantastic fuzzy windchime. Hopefully we can add to it this weekend.

Where I hunted I thought it was one of the quietest opening weekends in Minnesota that I have ever been a part of.
Agreed. It was quite. There were about a dozen shots in our area on Saturday AM, probably one 3 that were reasonably close. Sunday, less than that.

Nice buck Tom. Nice fuzzy windchime Dave. Venny in the freezer for you guys, mmmm-mm.
I interrupt this deer season banter to give a quick good news election update (the good news part makes this rare today unfortunately). My wife won the election for a seat on the school board! It was close; she won 6725 to 6670. Whew, it was a nail-biter all evening and we didnt get much sleep.
And one more interesting tidbit, you think your vote doesnt count? My state representative seat was won by the Republican 6812 to 6811. Yes, by 1 vote.
Alrighty, back to the more important topics like the virtues of fresh doe-in-estrus pee.

Really cool Tom, the pictures help make you feel like you are there getting ready to drag that ole boy out.
Something clever here.

It was very quiet around our hunting area as well, not very much shooting.

I wish you were there to help me. My BIL went home Sunday afternoon, so I was wingin it... Too bad for him because I shot it Monday at 1300, from his stand. I was out scouting new areas in the morning on Monday because there was very little deer sign around. At 1100 I decided to go sit for the rest of the day. Got settled into the stand 1130-1145.

TZ now that you have your deer on the ground, I think you should hire out as a wolf-hunting guide for Fluf and Dave. You seem to be in the thick of it.

TZ, you had to drag him out yourself? I got one about that size body-wise (smaller rack) a few years ago and stopped at Cabela's on the way home to buy a game-cart. Shoulda done it years ago......
Really nice buck. It looks like exactly the same stuff we hunt in, which makes me more impressed.

They can sit in my stand or park at the road. I saw the two from the stand on Sat, and one crossed the road in front of us when I parked on Sunday AM at about 0530.

I'm not sure a cart would have been much of a help on this deal. I do have one. A Gander Mountain version. The sled helped a TON the first few hundred yards. Then there were a lot of stumps and the brush was too close together for the sled to fit through. I've shot two deer that weighed more, but they were accessible by wheeler immediately.

With the law the way it is now, if I get stuck way back ever again with a really big deer, I am calling in my registration, then quartering and packing it out. I brought up a huge frame-pack this year just in case. This year I had to go probably 30% further with the cart to get one of the deer out, but it was well worth it for my back. I also had the luxury of having my hunting partner head back and grab the cart while I dressed the deer and relaxed.....
