They don’t carry Denso and the off brands that they carry are more expensive.

Like has been stated, the 3.0 is bad about head gasket failure. I believe it may have been a recall.

I paid $5K to have a 3.0 Jasper put into my daughter's 4-Runner while she was pregnant with her first child. That boy is a Senior in High School today.

It is a bit of a story, suffice to say, three years later I was the owner of that 4-Runner.

I loved driving that rig, but I could hear a bit of valve noise and a miss in the three year old engine. I took it back to the shop. They pulled the heads and sent them back to Jasper where they were rebuilt. I payed the labor bill. Jasper had, at that time, a five year/50,000 mile warranty on the engine. But it was-prorated after two years.

It was a really great rig with two exceptions: 3.0 and AT.

Had it just been a 22RE with a 5 speed manual, I would still be driving it today.

I had an 82 Toyota LB 4x4 with the carbed 22R and five speed. It had plenty of power to run down the freeway at 80 mph. It had plenty of torque for any mountain trail. I threw it in low range as soon as I left the pavement. There was a gear available for any off road terrain.

Its only problem was short legs. It would use 1/4 tank getting from the station to the recreation area. You better save 1/4 tank to get back to the station, or have a 5 gallon can in the back.

With a short bed, and a thirty gallon reserve tank in the back, it would have been the perfect trail rig.

It happened often on the 3.0. Toyota's biggest failure as an engine maker.

Another option is to look for a JDM import motor with low miles.

Anybody use Rock Auto Parts on a regular basis? Good company? I like OEM parts for my 4Runners and usually get them with an online order discount from my dealer and no shipping.

My 6BTs get Remy... I am convinced they are worth it.

Yes on Rock Auto... at least sometime.

They have had fowl-ups the last few orders.

I’ve used Rock Auto quite a bit in the past. Never an issue.

Anymore I go Amazon more often than not if I’m not going to a brick and mortar.

Orielly’s for wear parts like brakes. The lifetime guarantee is great. Especially if you have an f250 that eats calipers and rotors. You may have luck getting them to price match Rock.

Different 3L motor than in the Sienna?

This county is close to the size of Rhode Island...it has less than 100,000 people in it.. half that in the county seat... 75 % plus of the land in this county belongs to the Forest Service and BLM...

with the mountains, there is a lot of places you can get out in that has zero cell service unless you get up o 4000 to 5000 foot elevation. .then its line of sight.. If your reference is Tennessee, and you haven't been to SW Oregon, you have No idea what back country is...

What normally goes bad on those alternators is the voltage regulator on the back... I've had them fail after a zillion miles on them. We just replaced the voltage regulator on the back of them at a cost of $10 to $15, ad they've been ready to go once again. On my 88 4 Runner, with 590K on it.. ( original moto , 22RE), I did that at 250,000 & 500,000 miles on it....close to 600K on that vehicle.. My cost on keeping the vehicle's alternator running since 1988, has been $40 in repair, replacing the voltage regulator twice.

Same thing on the 4 or so Camrys I've had in the last 30 plus years.

The voltage regulator is all that has gone out. and its an easy bolt off bolt on repair.
