I bought some Apolo brand 33 gr pellets, 33 gr slugs and 40gr slugs for my 25 caliber Impact. Got them off Amazon and were about .05 per pellet and about .06 per slug with free Amazon shipping. They arrived in good shape and shot pretty well. Not quite as accurate as JSB or FX pellets but for the price they were worth it. My gun is setup for pellets but the 40gr slugs shot well enough that I ordered 4 more tins along with 4 tins of the pellets. The 33gr slugs didn’t shoot well enough to buy more. Gun does not have a slug liner and my second reg pressure is 100 so it’s not even close to a good setup for slugs. I moved the hammer spring dial from 8 to 16 for the 40gr slugs and game them enough extra oomph to make them shoot respectable.

At 25 yards the slugs were ok but not nearly as accurate as pellets. However, in a fairly stiff breeze at 80 yards they were significantly more accurate than the pellets. My very first experience with slugs so more playing is in order but so far I’m happy with them.

That's been my experience with them as well in .177... they're ok, not great.

One of my rifles really likes the 9gr Heavy Domes, but the QC can be spotty. I'll get a can with a lot of flash on them sometimes, but other cans from the same order will be fine 🤷‍♂️

What pellets shoot the best for you? JSB have been my favorite in .177 and .25. I bought a bunch of FX pellets but they are rebranded JSB’s and shoot the same. Had a couple H&N models work ok but not good enough to make me stock up on them.

It really just depends on the rifle, they're very individual animals. Most of my cheaper multipump .177s shoot the Norma Superpoints extremely well. I believe those are actually made by RWS. Most of those cheap pumpers also shoot the cheapo Winchester labeled hollow points pretty well, too, but I'm not sure who actually manufactures those.

The Daisy 880 I got for my kid shoots the H&N Spikes best. I had a couple Hatsan Striker .22 cals, and those both shot RWS Superdomes well. I sold those, though... too dang muzzle heavy for offhand plinking or most small game hunting. My Crosman 362 and Seneca Dragonfly .22 both shoot the H&N Spitzkugels best.

I had a Beeman Chief .22 for a bit that just liked cheap Crosman pellets. I was too cheap to buy an electric pump for that though, and I got tired of hand pumping it, so I sold that one, too. It was also LOUD.

Unless you have a slug barrel and (possibly or) adjustable regulator, it's not likely you'll ever get the accuracy of a slug ta match your pellets.

As you've seen, slugs have an advantage past 50 yards, and for larger quarry.

What is the purpose of your slug quest? ELR?

It’s not a quest, just a curiosity. Gun is an FX Impact with the stock 700mm barrel. I love the high shot count 140+ of my current setup and don’t intend to change reg settings for slugs. If I had carbon fiber tank to refill it easily in the field I might be inclined to really dive into the slugs. But I don’t and will use the slugs for pigeons or play with them when I’m bored shooting good groups with pellets. :-)
